To See The Stars Again

Dave Aftandilian Bleak, suffocating, and punishing dark/blackened ambient. Listening gives me the feeling of lying paralyzed but alive in a grave, watching the diggers shoveling dirt onto my body, feeling the growing weight of the soil slowly crushing the last gasps of breath out of my lungs. Or emerging suddenly into the bright sunlight and feeling it pummel me mercilessly, burning my skin, searing my soul. (So far as I know this is the only release from Contagiion…would love to hear more from that project!)

camjr01 I have no idea why a dungeon synth label released this, being that it's barely medieval at all- but whatever, at least I stumbled across this masterpiece. Contagiion's tracks are mostly intriguing weird synth music that's not as much low end and subtle but rather quiet and mysterious- except the first track, a beautifully ambiguous piece with noticeable guitar presence. Meanwhile, Benighted in Sodom come through with lofi ambient black metal slathered in synths- and trust me, it's entrancing. Favorite track: Paradigm Inumbrate.

rocketredfern contagion was great, a real understated menace. but benighted in Sodom was seeing the monster under the bed. and it wasn't scary, just ear splitting.

monolithslasher This split album is a fantastic mix of depressive and isolated dark synth and, in the case of Paradigm Inumbrate, heavy hitting ambient black metal. I fully recommend if you are into either genre. Favorite track: Paradigm Inumbrate.

BloodStone Really dark and brooding split! Favorite track: Paradigm Inumbrate.

Jean-Paul DuQuette Dark pulsing moans from Contgagiion and a long black epic from Benighted in Sodom. Dark and ominous.
